You gotta laugh

Here is one of the family photos taken this morning. (The only one that was decent enough to post.) I have to tell you that it just plain didn't work out! We didn't like what we were wearing. I hated my hair. Meghan hated her sweater. We traded sweaters half-way through the ordeal. The photographer clearly didn't like the collar on my sweater. She said it looked like it was messed up, but that was the "look" I wanted. Lincoln didn't like his weight. John had a pimple that showed up today. We asked her to please take one picture with my camera just for the Christmas cards. We couldn't find one we all liked. We had them taken in her basement. We wanted them taken outside, but it was freezing out! I look like I am taller than Lincoln. We were all laughing nervously because it was so awkward and unnatural. When Meghan was all ready for the pictures, the girl took one look at her and said she could go to the bathroom and "freshen up"if she wanted. What? It was just the cold that came on yesterday. She looked like she didn't feel well. John's knees were killing him while posing. Knees were cracking... Lincoln hurt his shoulder while twisting into position. The girl said that Lincoln looked familiar and asked what he does for a living. Out of nowhere he said he was an actor. What? She didn't get his joke. (Neither did I.) We were so stiff! You must admit, we don't look our best! Oh well.

How can I try to make this spiritual? I can't think of any way except for the fact that God loves us just the way we are. He doesn't need us to come to Him all dressed up looking perfect. If we just relax and be at peace with Him, we are beautiful in His eyes. It was funny!

Please laugh with us...
Love,
Angie xoxo

Oh, I like the photo. I like the black where you see your faces. I will say every time we have a family photo, we're all in the grumpiest of moods. It takes hours longer to get ready for somebody who is having a crisis. Might be any of us--like you said, hair, wait, zit, whatever...Nothing like family time together..By the end, one of us is saying, "Just smile, d*#%$ it." The funny thing is by next year, everyone thinks they look fine, and you are glad you have a picture to document your life. Sometimes the tests of such times are bonding experiences too! love you, annie

Y'all are adorable and beautiful and wonderful....even if all that stuff was going on. I laughed as I read each line you wrote! It took me back to the day when I had 2 very small kids and had our very
1st family outdoor portrait made....

It was 110 degrees outside, my hair was "oh my gosh i've just had a baby so lets cut all my hair off," and everyone cried more than they smiled!!! It happens all the time no matter the age, huh?!

Just kidding...i do think ya'll are adorable and loved all your comments about the day. And, thank you Jesus for loving us just the way we are.

Hugs~
Fran

I think it's pretty darn good. I know...we all see faults in our own photos, but really it's pretty good to me.

I guess you saw on my post yesterday that the 19 of us had a group photo shoot yesterday. I won't know how they turn out until Christmas! Yikes...can you imagine 19...9 of which are kids??

Hugs!

So, sounds as if everything that could go wrong, did.

Well, at least you were all miserable together! Just add a caption to the pic...Making the Best of a Bad Situation!

This is one of those 'making memories' times. You'll always have the memory of this day...and you'll laugh! So...all's well.

I think it looks great, by the way.

Hi Angie,

Fran was telling me that we were having similar picture troubles so I came over to check it out. You should check out my last post...I think it will make you feel better or at least it should make you laugh!

You gotta love those family Christmas pictures! It's memories we're making!

I think your family picture looks great! Obviously it was quite an ordeal but from the outside looking in everything worked out! I'm sure your Christmas cards will be beautiful!

Oh gosh - I feel for you. We weren't thrilled with ours this year, either. Actually, years ago when my oldest brother's kids were little, (they are all grown and married now) they had a terrible time one year keeping them all seated, etc. and they got a really cute picutres with two of them crying, one pulling up her dress, my brother lunging one way and my sister-in law running her fingers through her hair. They used that photo and their cards said, "You better not pout!" I was HYSTERICAL! God loves us any way, pimples, sore knees, kinked shoulders and all.

Ok had you not just told me all of that I would have thought it was a wonderful picture - what am I saying it is a wonderful picture!!!
It is so funny how I can look at a picture and remember everything that went on behind the scenes. Last years Christmas picture we were all in blue and red except my hubby who decided that he wanted to wear green - it ticked me off to no end so I am smiling but so mad at the same time - LOL!!!
LOVE YA
Kim

Funniest thing I've ever heard.....when I was a child, my mother was determined to have a family photograph....in our home....with 5 children....everybody looks so miserable that we laugh about it still today! Laughter, it is good for you! I'm still wishing for my family photo.

What is the best job I've ever had?
