Cover to Cover...following Aruba

THANKSGIVING 2008

Early this morning we arrived home from Aruba where our family spent Thanksgiving. We were grateful for our time together. We heard it had rained for a week solid before we got there. God blessed us with beautiful sunshine for our entire vacation! We came home to Winter Wonderland! We listened to Christmas music all the way home from the airport!

Honestly, I read some of the readings I had downloaded from our Cover to Cover from my iPod. Note to self: Don't ever leave home without your Bible!

I had a lot of time to think (and listen to my music) while sitting on a chair looking at this...

Some of the verses that stood out were as follows...

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)

We all know these verses well. They are read at weddings and funerals. I was asked to read them at my sister's funeral. A pastor once asked us to replace the word, "love" with our name. Wouldn't it be great if these words were true of us?

Angie is patient.
Angie is kind.
Angie does not envy.
Angie does not boast.
Angie is not proud.
Angie is not rude.
Angie is not self-seeking.
Angie is not easily angered.
Angie does not keep record of wrongs.
Angie does not delight in evil, but rejoices with truth.
Angie always protects.
Angie always trusts.
Angie always hopes.
Angie always perseveres.
Angie never fails.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (1 Cor 13:13)

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)

He is the best friend we could ever need...
With His Love,
Angie xoxo

Wow! Great scenery! And the pic of the family...beautiful! Your children have the same sweet mile as you.

Very interesting way to look at those verses...putting your own name in. I never thought of it that way.

The last verse about 'comfort' has always been a fav of mine.

Glad you had a nice time...bet that sun felt good!

When I saw pics of people in shorts, I thought wow, the snow must have melted, then I got to the part about Aruba.

Great post!

Looks like you had a blast with your family.
I love the idea of replacing "love" with my name...I can't imagine I am worthy of replacing too many though.
Thanks for this.

I've never spent a Thanksgiving in my bathing suit...doesn't sound half bad.

I've done that several time with the love passage and my name. I acutally have a it printed really small and stuck in my purse.

Your family is lovely. I can really see you in your daughter.

Miss hearing from you.
Blessings,
Paula

Angie,

Your pictures are amazing - the water looks so inviting. I love how you personalized I Corinthians. I need to write that out like you did and pray it! I'm so glad you shared this.

So glad you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Much love,
Lora

Welcome back to the Midwest! where it is white and cold. We are gearing up for Christmas around here and the snow is nice, but it seemed to come in kind of sudden and looks like it will stay. I am ok with it, but I'm sure by February, like most other people I will be ready for it to be gone. Looking forward to a white Christmas.
