It must be the weather. Today is my day off and I was planning to get a lot of my Christmas shopping done and it is raining here in Michigan. It's raining! Not snowing. Raining. Since I am procrastinating I decided to jot down a little post. It has been on my mind for awhile. Actually for years. I should have added it to my 100 Things About Me post. If you don't mind, I'd like to get it off my chest.
I cannot stand when people write "Xmas". It just bothers me. Is life getting so busy that we don't have time to write out the whole word? Do we really need to abbreviate it? I finally decided to look up the meaning of the whole "X" thing. Click here if you are curious. It is quite interesting. Even after reading the definition, I must tell you it still bothers me! From now on, I think I may just start writing "Tmas", since the "T' looks more like the cross. I am not singling one person out who recently sent me an e-mail. I am talking about everyone. I've seen it everywhere. Maybe it's just me.
Changing the subject...
It seems every day I learn about more and more people losing their jobs, losing their homes, losing their insurance, having health concerns, struggling in their marriages, worrying about their kids, dealing with elderly parents, feelings of rejection, loneliness and other situations that are just plain hard. Sometimes I have to just stop in my tracks. I was talking with one of my colleagues yesterday about how much more difficult it is to talk with our patients these days. So many are hurting and don't want to talk about it. We used to be able to have easier conversations. People are concerned. They come in the chair with an attitude. We have no idea what is troubling them. When someone is nasty, I decided yesterday to just pray for them. They must be struggling. I just want to look them straight in the eye and tell them that everything will be okay if they can just grasp the love of Jesus. They will be okay and can breath easier if they just know Him. I'd give anything if it were okay to have them listen to this song on my iPod while I am cleaning their teeth. I would want them to listen to this song to the end...
If you don't know it today, He loves you so!
I better go put on my rain boots and work on my list!
Angie xoxo

Angie... I too cannot stand when someone writes xmas! X isn't Christ... X isn't the Chi-Rho either! Can you tell it bothers me? :)
I love that you pray for your patients. It is a tough time. Job loss etc. I am a realtor... believe me we are feeling the pain of the economy. But in this difficult time I am holding tight to my Lord. Knowing that in all things He will provide what I need. Whatever difficulties I find myself struggling with I have to approach His throne with confidence, complete trust and faith that He will see me through.
Oh sister, this is a HOT BUTTON TOPIC with me too! It looks like they're taking the "Christ" out of Christmas and it annoys me no end.
How did your talk with your friend go?
I don't like the X either even though I understand why it is and was done. (it's raining buckets here too, which is why I didn't go home for lunch today.)
I find myself struggling with a real spirit of fear from time to time as I think about all that is going on in the world and nation. I know that this is not what God has for me though. I guess it still all goes back to whether I believe Him or not. And I'm choosing to believe.
love you!

I too hate to see Xmas. I must admit though I usually write/type everything as short as I can. I type days Mon, Tue, etc. I type Tgiving. I do not type Xmas but I am very guilty of typing Cmas. There for a while I would write/type tmas. Little t looking like a cross. Hopefully, those who see my Cmas won't be offended since I've changed it. It's really nothing personal about taking from Christ but rather I short hand everything. I am however just as anal about capitalizing every H when talking about God and using the word He or Him or His. I'm anal about capitalizing His possessions too...like Cross, Word, etc.
Does that make up for my Cmas?
I'm going to click on your link to see how the X got all up in the mix.
Love,
Paula
I agree with you! My big pet peeve this time of year is when people call it a "Holiday Tree". I have heard that a lot recently and it really annoys me!! It's CHRISTMAS and don't try to make our sacred holiday into a secular one!
Blessings
Michelle
isn't it overwhelming how many people are hurting out there! being one of them, i am so grateful for those who take the time to notice and to pray. your patients are so blessed to have you there, being willing to understand that they must be in "pain". thanks for praying for others.
as God has left me "home bound" for now, He has given me the privilege to meet so many people i never would have met. i hope that He causes me to be an encouragement.
so glad HE loves us! thanks for this song today.
love ya,
sheryl
I'm with ya...CHRISTmas!!! Loved this post and loved the ending of it too. If only they knew Him...
It's Christmas...whether people like it or not just over 2000 years ago in the City of David, Christ our Savior was born.
I pray for those who are hurting to find Jesus if they do not know Him.
And Ang, you are my friend even though you don't want a hippo for Christmas.
Love, Annette
I am in total agreement. I feel it is almost a personal attack on Christianity when I see it. I refuse to buy anything that has that 'shortcut' on it.
We're getting lots of rain tomorrow. Yuck...even though we do so need it, I sure do like a sunny day!
Ang, that is all we can do, pray for each other... cause we just don't know the burden the other is carrying.... wish people knew they could have a personal relationship with our Lord and Saviour... yes indeed Christ loves us so!
Love you
Barbara
When I wrote my last post I purposely wrote 'Christmas Season' several time. No Xmas season No Holiday season Just Christmas Season! I am in the same boat with you. I hate that we have taken Christ out of Christmas whether it is Xmas or Holiday!
Sometimes we all need someone just to (((HUG))) us and tell us it is going to be OK even when we know and love Jesus. We just need reminders.
I understand the worries people have. Our family and friends have been hit hard too ~ it's a tough time right now for many people. Just keep loving on your clients and offer your beautiful smile and kind words. You do that so well:)
Bless you friend,
Cindy
That is such a great place to be when others are rude, difficult or troubled--to pray for them. Maybe you can sneak in a little touch on the head as you speak His love over them. You are so dear to me. Love,Annette
Dear Anonymous, Who are you, my dear? You obviously have some unresolved anger issues. I'm sorry you don't equate Christmas with Christ. What could it possibly mean for you, except a lot of pain and unrest, so you comment on other's blogs with disparaging comments. I hope you feel better but I know you still don't. Try not to let your anger spill over to other people. And if you really have anything to say, put a name with your comment. Annette
I agree with you.
Christmas hugs for you!
Kat
Girl...I love the song you posted at the end of your post! My absolute favorite. Bar. None. "He is jealous for me" gets me every single time!
