God continues to amaze me every single time I open His Word. These past couple of days I have been so frustrated with my inability to see without reading glasses. I just don't like it. When I want to read something I want to be able to see. Yesterday I was sitting at breakfast and wanted to do my daily reading. I got so mad that I needed to pull out those stinking glasses. Thank you, God that that's all I have to worry about! But I got to thinking. I just find it strange that when I could see well, I didn't care about reading my Bible so much. Now, when I want to read His Word I can't see and need help focusing.
I looked up "eyes" in the Concordance in the back of my Bible. I wanted to see what I could find. Here's where God took me...
Colossians 3:18-24
Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.
Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.
Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.
Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their EYE is on you and to win their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
This passage made me stop and consider my life. I tend to be a people pleaser instead of a God pleaser. I need to think about how pleasing my life is to Christ. Do my words and actions speak love to my husband and others in my life?
Dear Lord,
Thank you for Your Word and for giving me eyes to see them, even if it's with reading glasses. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit so I can be full of love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. And please, Lord help me especially when no one is looking besides You. Help me keep my focus on You.
I want to see You,
Angie

What a beautiful way to look at this!
Thank God He gave man the ability to make glasses - so we could read his word! And... there are many, many cute reading glasses out there! Find some cute ones! ;) You will be stylish too! hee hee
God Bless!
Beautiful prayer :)
Oh how beautiful Angie. I needed that prayer today. "Lord, help me especially when no one is looking besides You." He sees us all the time.
I'm fighting the reading glasses thing. I read the Bible online and I can make the words larger. :)
Love & blessings in Christ--
Well said, sister. Well said! And simply AMEN! People Pleaser 101 right here. I've so been dealing with this this semester. I just remeber that in when I'm doing this for men, the ONLY fulfillment I get is AT THAT MOMENT. Nothing else. In doing it for HIM, it lasts an ETERNITY!!!!!! The latter sounds so much better!
Love you, Miss Angie! ;)
Oh how I need my spiritual eyes every single day. I need my God glasses every single day. And, I'm grateful for the eyes to see Him through His Word....just amazing!
Have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs~

I love your comparison of our spiritual eyes and the glasses. You know I relate a little too well. I remember a song many years ago called "Rose Colored Glasses" and I just want me some "God colored Glasses." I want you also to know the Godstop I referred to on my post "of the best conversation I've had in years without saying a thing" was with you! Love you, Annette
Angie...my have you grow! It is so cool to see your sweet prayers.
Don't worry,His "eyes" are on you!

Ang,
I just got your comment - YOu can have 4 in your room. If you need another room let me know I just had one come available.
That might help if you have more people coming :)
Love ya
Kim
What is up with this reading glassses stuff anyway? Everyday my eyes are worse than the day before. Another one of those things I said would never happen to me (like rebellious teens and slowing metabolism).
I love your spiritual application though. It has been my prayer that others would see Jesus in me and that I would be the same when no one is looking. Have a great weekend!!

Beautiful thoughts, Angie. I have worn glasses since I was in the 3rd grade. But, even at that, when the tiny print began to get blurry and I had to go to bifocals...I was miserable. I really wish I could see perfectly. I've told my family not to bury me in my glasses, 'cause when I get "home"...I won't need them any more! Thank you, Jesus!
