I have to tell you about this amazing girl God brought to our church last night! Her name is Immaculee Ilibagiza and she is a Rwandan Holocaust Survivor. She wrote a book called, "Left to Tell". She spoke to us about what happened to her in 1994. She had to hide in a Pastor's tiny bathroom with 7 other women for 3 months so she wouldn't get killed! She spoke about that time and how God changed her heart and allowed her to forgive the people who brutally murdered her parents, grandparents and her two brothers. She has no family left! She has God and that's enough!
Her story would give hope to anyone and show them how to forgive the unforgivable! Growing up (Catholic) she always prayed with her family, but she had to learn to really pray and the Pastor gave her a bible that she finally really read like it was the first time she opened it! She learned to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ! She learned to trust God and surrender her life to Him! She knows for sure that if it weren't for God, she wouldn't be here today to tell about this! If she can do it anyone can!
At the end of the evening I was both excited and drained! She is beautiful! Please... if you need a good book to inspire you... read her story!
I am so thankful that I live in this country and that God is with me (and you) everyday!
Before she finished she asked our worship leader to sing her favorite song...
Amazing Grace

What a story! It's amazing just what we take for granted. How blessed we are to be Americans! I am sure her story will touch many. Thanks for sharing. I'll get her book.
Okay, that's one more book I'm going to add to my "to read" list!! Thanks. I only wish I could have been there to hear her in person. What an experience.

Thanks for the reminder. I saw her on TV recently. What an amazing story. She is a true survivor. I would love to hear her and get to meet her.
I'll look for the book.
Hugs!

Wow, sometimes I get so comfortable in this world and start to believe that Christians are no longer persecuted, but the fact is that it is happening all the time! We are so blessed to live in a country with a church on every street...often several and freedom to worship wherever and whenever we wish.
How beautiful she is..with the light of Jesus in her eyes. Thanks for sharing her story, Angie! I look forward to reading it.
With love and prayers for you in Him,
Holly
I read her book at the beginning of the year. Amazing doesn't even begin to describe her. I think of her story often. How neat you got to see her in person!
Now see? THIS woman shows my piddly little problems to be just that - LITTLE. What an amazing person. I always wonder why was my soul blessed enough to be born into a body in the U.S.A.? Whenever I hear of someone like this woman, I always know that I must count my blessings. I don't know if I would be strong enough to survive as she has. Thanks for sharing a bit of her story with us.
Also, thank you for your kind comment during my recent menopause moment. It's so reassuring to hear that you don't think I'm a nutcase for what I'm experiencing and how I'm handling it.
