I had such a nice time with my mom on our spontaneous trip to Chicago. For some reason the guy at the Whitehall Hotel gave us the best suite! My mom immediately called to thank him and tell him that she is 74 years old and has never stayed in such a beautiful room! Seeing the look on my mom's face was priceless as she looked around and smiled from ear to ear!
We listened to "It All Goes Back in the Box" on our way home and enjoyed the reminder to intentionally fight the "Hurry Syndrome" and to remember that... "It could be worse".
No one enjoys a road trip more than my mom. The only bad part was that she forgot to pack her Insulin. I was worried about her most of the time. As we listened to the music she kept talking about her funeral. She wants her body to be used for Science so they can learn more about kidney disease and diabetes. She also said she wants this kind of music played as opposed to just the "Catholic" music. She also made a request that if she has any money left, she wants to make sure all of her grandchildren can come even if they cannot afford to get here.
I couldn't help but notice tears in her eyes when this song (I Can Only Imagine) came on. It's one of the songs that was played at my dad's funeral. We had to beg the Priest to allow it because it wasn't a "Catholic" song. Mom still misses my dad like crazy. She was sure God was going to take them both together. She is so ready to be with him, but we all know that He'll take her in His perfect timing.
With much love and gratitude,
xoxo

I love that photo of your mom. She really looks happy. And "I Can Only Imagine" is one of my all-time favorites--just makes it sweeter knowing that's the song you all had at your dad's funeral. I'm praying for your mom and her doc appt. and for you, dear friend. Lots going on. Glad you and she had that sweet time together.
What a blessing this music has been to me, and I too add that i am so glad you had this time to share with your mother.... precious. She is in my prayers, dear one!
Dearest Ang...
My heart overflows with so much emotion. Thankfulness that your mom knows the Lord, but sadness that you are walking this journey. Praise that this earthly life is not goodbye forever. Our hope and help is in the Lord.
I am praying for your mom, you and your family.
Much Love,
K
PS: YOu look like your mama!
