It was one of those mornings when I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep. I believe God woke me up to reveal Himself to me. When something is on my mind, it seems as if my concerns are SO much bigger than they are during the day. In daylight I can think more clearly, but in the darkness there is no telling where my imagination can go! At 3:00 this morning God reminded me of the prayer Jesus modeled for us. Then, as only God would do, I Just opened my Bible study workbook to find us talking about The Lord's Prayer today! God gave me a hug this morning. I think it's going to be a good day!
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory. for ever and ever. Amen

Thanks Angie....another idea when you wake up like that is to go thru and praise Him starting with A and ending with Z. You will be surprised at the names and characteristics He will give you to praise Him with. He inhabits the praise of His people and it brings Him so close and helps to bring the sleep back. Thankful it helped you. The Lord's prayer is so wonderful.
That's so very true. I took me years to "get" that things really do seem worse in the darkness. I've been having a hard time sleeping lately, too. Perhaps I should get up instead of tossing and turning.
I've learned to respond to those middle of the night moments with a time of prayer. Even if it isn't God nudging me, I'm sure that prayer is needed somewhere!

No doubt the Holy Spirit is taking your hand and leading you through the darkness. No coincidence in that! Isn't God so faithful! I want to really meditate on those words that our Teacher gave us....Thanks Ang!

Your posts also touch my heart. Your sweet spirit shines through each one. My lazy butt would be half asleep to consider praying. Your post has made me think that I guess I've never been wakened in the middle of the night to the point of not being able to fall back asleep. I'm a heavy sleeper once I fall asleep. I can even get up for the bathroom and fall right back asleep. Yet, it takes forever to fall asleep.
That was TMI (too much info).

I have believed for a long time that when I am wakened during the night for some unknown reason...it is because someone I know and love is in need of prayer. Sometimes my mind will immediately go to a person, and sometimes I just have to start and pray down the list!

Amazing love of His to take your hand and place you right in the center of His Will in prayer. That hour is very clearly His, little distraction if you can't sleep, and He'll call to mind what to pray.
