He gives and takes away

What a strange evening. I went to a concert to see Steven Curtis Chapman and Michael W. Smith. I was brought to tears the second Steven sat down to play the piano and sing. He was only able to get one song in before the power went out. (It went out 4 more times before I finally left.) He told us he has been broken since May 21st when his daughter was killed. He said that every time he sits down at the piano he has to sing this song.

I admire that guy so much! To be able to go through what he and his family have gone through and still rely on God is amazing. He still trusts Him and doesn't seem like anything has changed since that tragic accident. I would bet he has moments where he wonders, but it has only been two months and he's singing His heart out to so many! He said that God is his Only Hope.

He was just adorable. When the power went out for the 4th time he opened his Bible, put on his reading glasses and yelled out some scriptures I couldn't hear. What I did hear was the passion this man feels for a God who gives and takes away. I heard him scream at the top of his lungs that the power of Jesus Christ NEVER fails!

For this I am truly Thankful, this Thursday!
In Awe,
Angie xoxo

Hi Ang,
Isn't amazing to see how the Lord can sustain us and give us his strentgh as we go through various circumstances in our lives.

In our own strength it is so easy to get depressed, discouraged, and sometimes even impossible to move ahead during a tragedy. But the peace of God is the glue that hold us up and sees us through each day with hope knowing that even when we don't understand why, we continue to just trust him even more. Hugz Lorie

God knows our every need, does He not? I'll bet that there were many in the audience who needed to hear Steven's words after such a tragedy. (and there were probably some there wondering if he would be bitter as well.) Although I am sure that there are times that he struggles, it is such a blessing to see someone cling to the Father's hand wherever He leads us. What a powerful example!

I'm praying for you this weekend! I hope you have a wonderful one!

love,
karen

I was there too - they finally ended up, both he and Michael W Smith, coming out to apologize and say that they would have to reschedule. They sang Our God Is An Awesome God and part of Blessed Be Your Name accapella and then they left. They are going to refund the tickets and such and they will try to reschedule. I feel so bad for Steven - it just seemed to frustrate him so!!!

SUCH an amazing man of God!!!!

WOW! Thanks for sharing that. He is truly an amazing witness for the Lord. My heart aches at even the mention of this family so I have no idea how they are able to persevere as they are. Again, it is just a reminder of God's grace. And how strange that the power kept going out. Satan must have really wanted to stop that show and yet SCC kept glorifying God.....

Sounds like a powerful night! I would just bawl at the sight of Steven Curtis Chapman. I am still so heartbroken for his family.

Wow. What a testimony. He's in the lime light and I hope this tragedy is used in a magnificent way to glorify God.

Thanks for sharing this, Angie. It was a blessing.

I know that had to be a Spirit filled place! He has learned what so many of us have learned when hardship hits...God is the only true strength you have...and He is enough!

What is the best job I've ever had?
