I love a vacation where my agenda is simple. I love to walk the beach more than anything else in the world. For some reason God seems to show off in the form of bright blue water and waves. It's hard to explain, but it's true. I also love to read a good book (or two).
I brought Beth Moore's book So Long Insecurity and Same Kind of Different As me by Ron Hall and Denver Moore. God taught me a lesson as I read both of these books at the same time. He showed me that I have a lot in common with a homeless man.
In the story Denver shares his fear with Ron...
"I heard that when white folks go fishin they do somethin called 'catch and release,'" ... "I just can't figure it out. 'Cause when colored folks go fishin, we really proud of what we catch, and we take it and show it off to everybody that'll look. Then we eat what we catch... in other words, we use it to sustain us. So it really bothers me that white folks would go to all that trouble to catch a fish, then when they done caught it, just throw it back in the water." ..."So Mr. Ron, it occurred to me: If you is fishin for a friend you just gon' catch and release, then I ain't got no desire to be your friend." ..."But if you is lookin for a real friend, then I'll be one. Forever."
So there you have it. Then God brought a Word to me. I wrote it on the inside back cover of my Insecurity book so I'll never forget. I'll cherish the memory of my long walks on the beach where He calmed my fears.
"The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." (Deuteronomy 31:8) I've heard this verse so many times, but this time I heard it a little differently.
I feel so refreshed, so very blessed ... and hoping I'm a real friend!
Check out this water!
Happy Easter!

What a beautiful post. Ang, I have missed you and yet knew you were on Sabbath. How blessed to be able to spend it on this gorgeous beach as you displayed with the photo and video. I don't get to the beach that often where the beach is so gorgeous and the water amazing to watch come and go with the tides. When I have had the opportunity a few years ago I was blessed to hear God's voice in a mighty way. Seems from what you wrote you did too.
Thanks for being such an amazing friend I am fortunate to know.
A song I must sing to you dear Angelic Ang.
Beatiful post!
I, too, can hear Him so clearly on the beach! I truly feel His majesty there!
Enjoy your walks!
When I read the Ron Hall & Denver Moore book, I was like you...hungering to be a real friend.
With love,
Yolanda
Hi Ang,
This past summer when I went to Panama City Beach I remember just sitting there looking out at the ocean and being amazed at God's handiwork! I'm going to have to get that book.
By the way you have a beautiful smile!
Linda
We love the ocean, too.Lovely picture.
As someone who grew up on the beaches of SoCal - I love them. I miss the beach so much - haven't been in years.
Taking walks is the most glorious time to just hear God.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and the sound of the beach.
If I close my eyes I can almost smell it!!!
Happy Day! XOXOXO
