Cover to Cover... our shepherd

I am still trying to keep up with the Cover to Cover readings of the Bible chronologically. I get tempted to quit more times than I'd like to admit. Some days I skim through the readings, but I'm pretty sure God forgives me for that and is just glad I haven't quit yet! I will NOT quit, especially after this week's readings. It was no accident that I came across these two portions of Scripture...

My people come to you, as they usually do, and sit before you to listen to your words, but they do not put them into practice. With their mouths they express devotion, but their hearts are greedy for unjust gain. Indeed, to them you are nothing more than one who sings love songs with a beautiful voice and plays an instrument well, for they hear your words but do not put them into practice. (Ezekiel 33:31-32)

Lord, I pray You invade my life and get Your Word in the depths of my soul. May I hear Your Word and put into practice what I learn every single time I open Your love story to me! May I be sincere, genuine and authentic.

" 'For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I myself will search for my sheep and look after them. As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness. I will bring them out from the nations and gather them from the countries, and I will bring them into their own land. I will pasture them on the mountains of Israel, in the ravines and in all the settlements in the land. I will tend them in a good pasture, and the mountain heights of Israel will be their grazing land. There they will lie down in good grazing land, and there they will feed in a rich pasture on the mountains of Israel. I myself will tend my sheep and have them lie down, declares the Sovereign LORD. I will search for the lost and bring back the strays. I will bind up the injured and strengthen the weak, but the sleek and the strong I will destroy. I will shepherd the flock with justice. (Ezekiel 33:11-16)

Lord, I thank you for being my Shepherd and for leading me in ways that I know are in my best interest! It's easy to get discouraged by the leadership I see in this world, whether it is in my workplace, government or in my family. Thank you for being the head of my life, for searching for the lost and for never giving up on me or my loved ones. Thank you for bringing me back to You when I tend to wander. I'm in good hands when I follow You!

I'm Blessed by His Word and I know if you decide to join us, you will be Blessed as well. It's not to late to join us in reading the Bible together!
Much love,
Angie xoxo

Hello my friend- I admire you- I had every intention of doing this, but I did fall away. Just reading by myself, and expecting understanding, just do not work for me.

Keep at it! You will be so happy you did!!

2/3 the way through this morning. You're doing it and proving faithful to Him. Those words where everyone is listening but not putting into action God's Words haunt me. Oh what a good lesson I say, and then make no application to my own heart. This is a good Word--now let it do its work in my heart to convict and change. Happy Labor Day! Love, Annette

Oh, that HE would INVADE every part of our being!

And girl, YES, I was so sore! It is unbelievable.

And even though y'all aren't really my imaginary friends any more, I just feel the need to keep it that way, since that's how our special friendship started. But know that y'all mean so much to me!

And hopefully I'll get to hug your neck again sometime!

Love you way, Miss Angie!

The Beth Moore study I'm doing has hit home this week and coincides with the first passage you mentioned here. I admire you for doing Cover to Cover. I am reading the Bible in a Year version, and sometimes, it's tough. I'm trying not to skim, too, and really soak it in.

I also loved the passage about how the Lord Himself will become the shepherd and gather them and rescue them!
