I have ONE chance

I love Patty's idea of God Stops. I hope my blog is about God and what He does in my life every single day. My 2:00 patient yesterday was my God Stop for this week. Somehow God brought a guy in my chair and we had the best conversation. He and I were talking (Well, since I was cleaning his teeth I was doing most of the talking.) about the church my husband and I attend and comparing it to his. (I was brought up in the same one he attends.) He is very happy with his and we both agreed we are worshiping the same God. I was not trying to convince him otherwise. He asked what I liked about my church and I told him I enjoy reading the Bible for myself and the music. We were talking about my favorite subject... music. Before long I offered to come up with a list of my favorite contemporary Christian songs and he is anxious to get introduced to this unknown area to him. I still remember when I heard them for the first time and what an impact they had on me. Oh, the music...

As I was thinking about which songs I would recommend he listen to something hit me like a ton of bricks. (The Holy Spirit) I thought about the fact that I heard the Bible through various songs over the years. Then I read those songs in the Bible. Does this make sense? It was kind of backwards. I heard the artists sing to me, then I read about them in my Bible later. I am going to spend some time thinking about my all-time favorites. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate them. This may be my only chance to give him my favorite gift... the gift of music and pray it feeds his soul like it does mine! This morning I listened to my iPod as if it were the first time I heard many of these songs. This one brought me to tears this morning. It's my honor to share Him with anyone and everyone!

You are My King (Amazing Love)

I’m forgiven because You were forsaken
I’m accepted, You were condemned
I’m alive and well, Your Spirit is within me
Because You died and rose again

I’m forgiven because You were forsaken
I’m accepted, You were condemned
I’m alive and well, Your Spirit is within me
Because You died and rose again

Amazing love, how can it be
That You, my King, would die for me?
Amazing love, I know it’s true
It’s my joy to honor You
In all I do, To honor You

I’m forgiven because You were forsaken
I’m accepted, You were condemned
I’m alive and well, Your Spirit is within me
Because You died and rose again

You are my King
You are my King
Jesus, You are my King
You are my King

Amazing love, how can it be
That You, my King, would die for me?
Amazing love, I know it’s true
It’s my joy to honor You
In all I do, To honor You

In all I do, To honor You,
In all I do, Let me honor You.

I think I will give him a Bible so he can read for himself when I give him the list of my favorite songs. God has stopped me again and I am forever grateful this Friday!

Happy Friday!
Angie xoxo

Isn't it amazing how a simple conversation can lead to a new revelation, a new reason for praise, and a new person to share with. When God blesses us with knowledge and insight, I believe He holds us acountable for that. He puts opportunities for us to share it right in our paths. Do we take advantage of them or are we too busy to be bothered? Regardless...we are still accountable!

Angie,
I love how God orchestrates people in and out of our lives. This a great God Stop! I can hear the excitement in your writing! I praise God for how He showed Himself to you this week and thank you so much for sharing with us!

It's always a gift from God when I read a scripture that I recognize as a song. (I agree that it's kind of backwards!) I think it's the only way I will ever memorize anything. (Although I am making progress on Psalm 90.)

I have been listening to "the best of passion (so far)" and loving it. Maybe a collection like WOW or something like that might be good. It would give him a sample of different stuff. I know that the store where I work is giving free samplers of music along with a purchase. So you might get more that way. Or email me and I will see if I can send you some.

Music is my favorite worship to the Lord. Gosh since it's all new to him, I think you could recommend a Best of like WOW music some of the early ones are the best. And anything Hillsong is good. It all is so personal what each one likes, and even like we talked about, what kind of mood we are in. I'm at Lauren's right now while she takes a nap--she came down with strep throat. Sooo, talk to you soon. Love, Annette

Oh this gives me goose bumps! If I see and inexpensive bible somewhere I pick it up just for that purpose. My kids are kind of embarrassed because if I find out they have a friend without a bible, I usually make sure they get one.

But how fun to share music with someone! Have you heard the Glory Revealed CD? All of the songs on it are from scripture. I'm like you, I love when I read something in scripture and recognize it because I have sung it before! Music is such a good way to feed your Spirit and deepen that relationship with the Lord! I only wish I would have been blessed with a singing voice! That is one of the first things I will ask God to give me when I get to heaven!!lol.

Keep us posted on how things go with your "patient."

Love and Blessings,
Kelley

I love it when things like that happen. It's a God Stop for sure! You are my King is one of my absolute favorites.

I haven't been by in awhile because of company, working in my yard and trying to recover from all of the above. LOL Anyway, it's been fun reading all your posts I've missed.

Have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs!

Oh, that is one of my favorite songs too. Give him a Bible too, you can find some on sale I'm sure. They may have some on sale at Amazon. My husband and I have given away Bibles to new blievers for a very long time. He has one right now that he loves so much, it is a devotional Bible, has a devotion for each day within it. It is called an IWorship Bible. Don't know if you can find one or not. They are not going to be published any longer, but you might could find one. Thanks for sharing your God Stop Angie, it was great.

That's one of the songs I sing to the Lord almost every morning on my way to school. I don't want to ever get over His amazing love and the sacrificial way He demonstrated it to us.

Sometimes when I have conversations with some of my sons they bring up huge questions I never even thought of before. It pushes me to get into my Bible as though I never read it before, searching for answers, instead of relying on things I've just always assumed.

One of our family's favorite artist is Fernando Ortega. We have just about everyone of his CD's. His last one: Shadow of your wings has so many wonderful songs, that are scripture! The first one Grace and Peace can be taken froma few of Pauls letters as he begins! We absolutely love his music! Psalms 104 is mentioned in one of his songs. I can't remember the name right now, but it starts off "He wraps himself in light as with a garment" I think I'm going to go listen to Fernando now!

What is the best job I've ever had?
