This week during our Cover to Cover reading of the Bible we are in Numbers. We are asked by our facilitator, Bev to share what lingers during our readings. At first I was overwhelmed with all of the numbers that were given. I hoped I didn't have to remember them to get a full understanding of what His Word was trying to tell me. It was stressing me out until I read something that was familiar to me from my Catholic upbringing...
I'm sure I heard the priest say this blessing at the end of each Mass.
Numbers 6:24-26
" ' "The LORD bless you
and keep you;
the LORD make his face shine upon you
and be gracious to you;
the LORD turn his face toward you
and give you peace." '
A lot of times I get frustrated by the fact that I didn't grow up reading a Bible. But, now I realize all along seeds were getting planted. When I read this Blessing yesterday I heard it as if it was the first time. I am so grateful. I want this to more than linger...
Blessings,
Angie xoxo

I know that God has many ways of speaking to us and having us to hear His Word. Nothing is too great for Him, is it? I remember a story from childhood missions about a man who found just one page ripped from a Bible and became a Christian and led many others to Christ. How great is our Lord!
I love that blessing too. We closed each MYF (Methodist Youth Fellowship) with that prayer holding hands each week when I was young. Your point that He was planting seeds all along is one I am going to share with Cathy. She feels like she is "behind" on studying and the truth is I had the availability of the Word and never looked at it until about 15 years ago. I knew some just by sitting through it in Sunday school or whatever, but His Word was not the Life it brings to me now. Great reminder and blessing--both the Scripture and your words.
Love, Annette
I am embarrasse to admit that I grew up reading the word and never held it in my heart until I was grown. I suspect that even those who did still find something fresh and new each time they read the scriptures.
"for the word of God is living and active..."
We all find something new in the scripture each time we read it. I will not share how long i've been a Christian, because it's way long enough to know more than I do. However, I do know that His Word grows sweeter with each year and it speaks to me each day. It is fresh every day. So, I said that to say, don't spend your time regretting what is in the past, go forward and enjoy your future with Him and the Word.
Thanks so much for your sweet words and heart!
There is never lost time with the Lord...especially when you come willing to seek Him...He will be found by you...it is evident in you.
I grew up in a church where we never brought our Bibles to church and all I really learned was from Sunday school teachers...and although I recommitted my life when I was a senior in high school...I am far from that time and I also shudder at the years where I barely skimmed the pages of the Word...I can't go back...I have to make peace with those former days because if I don't there is one that will convince me that it is too late...I should know more...on and on...and that is not the truth...the truth is that God is always waiting for us and when we turn to Him...there is never wasted time...just the here and now...so all of us are here with the Lord...NOW...living for this day for Him in light of our past turning aside.
Be blessed this day,
Helen
I hope that doesn't sound preachy...I was trying to convey that I totally get what you shared...
I absolutely love that blessing - at one church we attended, our minister always closed with that - it was if we were safe but charged for the week ahead:)
Isn't it wonderful to discover a personal connection to the Word? It truly changes EVERYTHING!! I get a thrill just seeing my bible laying open and I want to dive in and never put it down. I pray that my husband and children would experience the same passion for God's word! Thanks for sharing your heart.

Hi Angie,
Thanks for the comment on my site. The conference I am going to is through Proverbs 31 ministries. It is a speaking and writing conference in Charlotte, NC. on June 20-22. You can learn more about it at www.shespeaksconference.com. It sounds like an awesome experience! It would be great if you decide to come, I have really had fun visiting on our blogs!

I was in a city choir for 5 years, Houston Children's Chorus, and we sang this song (Num. 6) at the end of each concert almost! It was one of my favorites...and still is!
So glad seeds were planted along the way and you remeber them! That is a blessing in itself!
