the good ol' days

A friend did a fun post last weekend and asked about our favorite cartoons. I spent too much time searching for one. If I'm being honest, it brought up a lot of emotions and worries about my memory. I almost had to resort to asking my sister what our favorite ones were because she remembers everything about our childhood. We had a big family so we were not able to watch a lot of television. Instead we had to, "Go out and play"! There were seven kids in my family so I'm sure it got chaotic and was easier to have us outside. I'm not complaining now as I look back.

But, it still bothered me that I couldn't think of a cartoon. I finally remembered that I didn't really love cartoons. (Thank goodness for google and you tube.) This was one of my favorite shows and after watching I remember why.

I know there must be something God wants me to remember as I write this tonight. I think He wants me to know... He's all about LOVE! Enjoy this clip from my favorite show from way back then...

Thanks for your post. My computer crashed today...bad timing to say the least. Please pray for me, as I have relinquished my "baby" into the hands of a dear friend. I hope for her safe return, along with my countless files, very soon. I'm reduced to using my husband's computer at his office.

I liked that one too!

I came from a big family too, with only one TV so we watched what the older siblings wanted to watch!

Oh, that was one of my favorite shows. Uncle Bill alway seemed like such a cool guy, didn't he? And gruff ole Mr. French was just a big old softie. I heard that 'Buffy' died when she was a teenager from drugs. So sad.

What an amazing trip down memory lane! Even the decor brings back memories!! Everything in those programs seemed so wonderful and perfect. Unfortunately, reality is never perfect and several of the actors met tragic ends. My heart is really saddened about that, like mourning the loss of innocence. I guess I just assumed they all lived happily ever after....I wish they had lived happily ever after.

Love, Kelley

What do 'ya know about that! I loved Family Affair, too. I used to really like a lot of tv as a kid, and now I remember why--it was better then. Mike and I used to watch Jetsons in bed on Saturday morning and eat cereal in bed before kids. I had forgotten about that too. You make me smile. love, Annette

Loved this show as well. I was not a cartoon watcher as a kid, wanted to be outside, but I did like Under Dog.

Angie,
This post inspired an entire post for me. I hope you don't mind that I wrote about Family Affair and even included a clip on my blog (it is not the same as the one you used). Wow who would think a TV show would have such power? I was just really moved by the memories.

I found your bolg through another - your name interested my (By Faith) - so I came to check it out. Who knew that I would get a trip down memory lane as well!!
This was my very favorite show - I used to ask my mom to do my hair like Buffy's and I would get so mad when people would say I looked like Cindy Brady ... AS IF!!! It was all Buffy my friend!
I also had a serious crush on Uncle Bill!!!
