It's Not About Me

Dear Siestas,

I would appreciate some prayers tonight as I am exhausted from quite a weekend. My son and I drove 12 hours from Michigan to North Carolina Thursday to help my mother move from her home to an apartment. My son ended up getting strep throat and felt miserable so he was unable to help. We worked two long days then drove 13-1/2 hours home today! It was one of those draining times when anyone who has read The Purpose Driven Life would remember two things. 1). It's not about me. 2). EGR (Extra grace required). I was doing okay with #1 but #2 was where I had the problem. I am having a difficult time with one of my loved ones and for some reason I turn into a rebellious teenager when I am around her. I want to show my family I am a Christian, but I am not perfect and I feel the pressure of "messing up" so they can call me a hypocrite.

I learned two more things: 1). One person's trash is another person's treasure! I learned that one big time! 2). They are all just things!

They'll Know We Are Christians

We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord
We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord
And we pray that all unity may one day be restored
And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love
They will know we are Christians by our love

We will work with each other, we will work side by side
We will work with each other, we will work side by side
And we'll guard each one's dignity and save each one's pride
And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love
They will know we are Christians by our love

And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love
They will know we are Christians by our love

Love is patient, love is kind
Never boasts, not full of pride
Always hopes, always trusts
The evidence of Christ in us

This is my commandment that you love one another that your joy may be full

I thank GOD for His Word tonight! (...and for music)
Much Love,
Angie

Amazing...in church this morning, not only did we hear the song I posted on my blog today, but we sang together "They'll Know We Are Christians". It's a wonderful song. Love it.

Your post tonight is great...very thought provoking. I can't imagine your long drive, especially with a sick child and after having such a busy time. I know how hard it is too when you have problems with a loved one. I'll say a prayer about this for you.

Extra hugs for you tonight,
Kat

I hope you get some rest and your poor son's strep goes away!

And my first thought after reading it was that when I face these situations, I need to constantly make sure my spirit is surrendered and submitted to Him, then ask for the filling of His Spirit in every crevace of my soul. That way, I am bowed down to Him, and the fruit of His Spirit fills me. I cannot conjure up in my own flesh love for a difficult one. It must be His love, from the fruit of the Spirit, that overflows. Love you girlfriend.

What is the best job I've ever had?
