2013 Scripture Memory Verse #4

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. ~Psalm 34:18 (NIV)

We've all heard the saying that a mother is only as happy as her least happy child. At the moment all is well in our household, but lately it feels as if we are on a roller coaster. I want to tuck this verse away because no matter how much we try to protect ourselves and our children, heart ache is bound to be a part of life. It's amazing that I can be as mad as a hornet at the people who are teaching my kids to learn how to handle disappointment. Instead I should be grateful for the lessons they are learning. My mom used to tell us that no matter how old our kids may be, we still worry about them. I'm not worried about mine because I know that the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

In His Holy Grip,
Angie

2013 Scripture Memory Verse #3

It's the first of February, so it's time to add another verse to my list. Honestly, since I started my new Bible Study I haven't been focusing on the first two verses; so I already feel a little behind. But today's verse should be easy to remember in light of my study.

Let's review just for fun...

#1- "Greet one another with a holy kiss." (2 Cor. 15:12) Forgive me, Father for I know I have been lazy and already failed in this area.

#2- "For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose." (Phil 2:13) I trust that God knows what He is doing in the lives of all of us. It's His job and for His purpose! I don't need to worry about anything. This verse gives me Peace regarding my role as a mother, especially when I'm concerned about my adult children.

#3- "They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations." (Isaiah 61:4)

I chose today's Scripture because I want to make sure I never forget that through Christ everything can be restored and rebuilt. My prayer is that my children's children will know to rely on God to meet all of their needs. Nothing will satisfy their needs like Him. No matter how I have messed both of them up, there is a wonderful counselor who can make all things new.

What is the best job I've ever had?
