Taking a good look at myself

I'm still plugging along reading through The Message Bible this year, along with 66 Love Letters by Dr. Larry Crabb. We are in the book of Judges right now and it already has me confused. I am having a difficult time understanding what is "loving" about Judges and what God wants me to hear in this book. As I try to relate it to my life I totally get that the hard parts of life are what make me dependent on Him. He knows that when things go well I am "prone to wander". I admit I want Him in my life so things will go smoothly and I'll have the "good life". He is more concerned about Holiness and how I love those around me in a way that will make them want Him too! The common theme I am learning is that the Only One perfect and Holy is Jesus Christ. I want to be more like Him. I also know He wants to change me from the inside out. I love how Dr. Crabb explains in his book that "A physician must convince you that your disease is serious before you'll cooperate with radically invasive treatment."

Human medicine has always interested me. These words from the book stopped me in my tracks: "Yes, Judges is a love letter. Think of it as a disturbingly clear MRI that prepares you to submit to the healing skill of a caring and gifted surgeon who guarantees a good result."

Lord, I am convinced. I need a heart transplant. I trust You to do whatever You need to do to make me more like You. Thank You for continuing to give me opportunities to be dependent on You. Forgive me for only coming to You for the "good life".

Have a great weekend!
It's almost Spring!
Love,
Angie xoxo

Angie,

Good morning, thank you for sharing what you are learning through both of your "tools" to learn and digest God's word. It blessed me and I'm asking God to work with-in me and on me as well.

Lovingly,
Yolanda

Whew... impactful sweet sister!

"A physician must convince you that your disease is serious before you'll cooperate with radically invasive treatment." Amen!

I also love how you compared Judges to an MRI. What a wonderful way to look at it. Some of the Bible's books are hard to read through. I remember our Bethel Series at church. (went through the entire Bible in 2 years) and I had trouble with Kings & Chronicles... (they are so similar) :)

Reading your "heart transplant" quote makes me say to myself... Create in me a clean heart Oh God and renew a right spirit within me! I too need that heart transplant!

What is the best job I've ever had?
