I'm glad to be reading our Cover to Cover readings of the Bible this week with Bev and the girls. We are finally reading The New Testament! I find it impossible for these next verses not to linger. They mean more to me today than ever before. It's a great time for you to join us in the readings.
Luke 1:26-38
The Birth of Jesus Foretold
In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you."Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end."
"How will this be," Mary asked the angel, "since I am a virgin?"
The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. For nothing is impossible with God."
"I am the Lord's servant," Mary answered. "May it be to me as you have said." Then the angel left her.
Mary was honored to be chosen. May we trust God with our lives like she did! I am so grateful for The Holy Spirit and the fact that N-O-T-H-I-N-G is impossible with God! I can't tell you how glad I am that our readings have brought us to The New Testament. I am hoping I will have an easier time understanding. Thank you for reading along with me and for listening to me complain when I just didn't get it in the Old Testament! Have a great week!
Much love,
Angie xoxo

I love Mary's spirit of obedience. I think too many times I look at her as the mother of Jesus rather than a godly young woman, committed to whatever plans God had for her no matter the cost.
I'm praying for you, girl. I'm hoping that the days ahead are better.
love,
karen
Powerful post. Love and blessings to you.
Thank you for this post..I needed to read this. We are going through a lot of changes in our life and trust doesn't come easily for me..
Ang, I'm with you! I SO needed Jesus this week and was SO glad to get to the NT!
Blessings
Michelle
I can't even begin to imagine Mary wondering what all this would mean, the cost to her, but how she responded, "Behold, the handmaiden of the Lord. Be it unto me according to thy word!" Amazing love of Christ. I love this journey with you. Love, Annette
How long have you gals been reading together? Pretty cool!
What a wonderful journey you had through the Old Testament. Days of joy, days of sorrow, days when satan wanted to keep you from continuing through the OT. I look forward to following your Cover to Cover journey through the NT. I remember when I went through our Bethel Bible Study - it was 2 years starting w/ Genesis and ending w/ Revelation. 45 people started our class... there were 12 of us that finished. It was a journey... but what a blessing it was!!!
Oh how to have the obedience and trust that Mary did...
I was reminded of the song "Breath of Heaven (Mary's Song)"
Do you wonder
As you watch my face
If a wiser one, should of had my place
But I offer-all I am
For the mercy-of your plan
Help me be strong
Help me be
Help me
Breath of Heaven
Hold me together
Be forever near me
Breath of Heaven
Breath of Heaven
Lighten my darkness
Pour over me, your holyness
For your holy Breath of Heaven
Hold us together Dear Lord!
Looking forward to reading the NT with all the Cover to Cover gals! I have been so blessed these last nine months!
Very beautiful and powerful
I think those are some of my favorite verses.
